Nitrogen is a chemical element and its symbol is N.

Plants and animals can’t live without nitrogen. It’s very important for their growth.

 

BUT…

Nitrogen cannot be directly used as a nutrient until it is converted into compounds animals and plants can use.

This process is called the

Nitrogen Cycle

During a process called FIXATION certain kinds of bacteria in the soil change N2 (atmospheric nitrogen) into a form that can be used by plants when they absorb it through their roots. Animals then eat those plants and get nitrogen
