Tables organize data into rows and columns. To create a table select the menu Inserta|tabla (or press Ctrl+F12).
The options are shown below:
Nombres: Name the table to identify it
Medida: set the number of rows and columns
Opciones:
Encabezamiento(header): to set the first row as the table header.
Repite el encabezamiento: To repeat the header in the first row of the next page if the table takes up more than one page.
Las … primeras filas: To sets the number of files used as the table header.
No dividir la tabla: To prevent the table from taking up more than one page.
Borde: To add border lines to the table and cells.
Formado automático: It opens a dialog to set a predefined format
There's also possible to create a table clicking on the button table from the main tool bar, shown below in the image below.
ACTIVITY 1 COUNTRIES TABLE
Open your personal template and save it as paisos.odt using File | save as . Remember, after this action, to save the file you must use File | save. Never use File | save as or the versions information will be lost
Insert a 3 columns , 10 rows in the table using:.
Select tabla|Insertar|tabla…
Select the following settings:
Columns: 3
Rows: 10
Header: on
Repeat header:on, for the first 1 rows
Don't divide the table:off
Borders: on
Click in the button Aceptar.
3. Input the table data: you have to fill in your table using the data shown below. First write and format the columns header (Pais-Capital-Continent) in your table. Then choose randomly 9 rows from the table below and write them in your table. Select at least a country from every continent.
Move the cursor over the line between columns until it change to this icon
Click the left button and drag the cursor changing the column to the proper width.
Save a version of your document using File | version, and clicking later the button save version
Format a table
Using the menu tabla you can modify an existing table. You can add/delete columns and rows, change the width/height, etc. Some of these actions can be done using the contextual menu too, or using the buttons in the table tool bar as show in the pictures below.
To insert a row or column
You can merge different cells, rows or columns in a single element selecting them and then clicking in the menu option tabla|fusiona las celdas or the contextual menu option Celda |Fusiona. You can also use the merge button in the table toolbar
You can split a cell, in a number of othes selecting it and then clicking in the menu option tabla | Dividir las celdas or the contextual menu option Celda | Divide…. You can also use the split button in the table toolbar
This dialog will open allowing you to set how to split the cell
Distribute rows / columns evenly selecting the rows and columns and selecting from the contextual menu the options

Set the cells height and width and the space between columns using the mouse. Just move it over the rows and columns limits and drag to change it

Setting borders and background colors
The easiest way to change the border lines format is using the icons in the table tools bar. This bar appears at the bottom of the window when you place the cursor in a table
ACTIVIDAD CAPITALES COLOR
Open capitals.odt. Save it as capitales_color.odt.
Change the background color in the different rows according to this list
Europeans countries:blue
Asiatic countries:red
American countries: yellow
African countries:green
Oceanian coutries: brown
In order to change de color, select the row or rows, and click in the button background color shown below. If the tables toolbar is not visible select Visualiza|Barra de herramientas|tabla
Save a version of your document using File | version, and clicking later the button save version
Draw the cell border lines.
Click anywhere in the table
Select the menu Tabla | Selecciona | tabla in order to select the whole table.
Use the following buttons to set the cell borders. You are free to make your own design
Borders: to make visible the lines between cells

Line colors: to set the line colors.
Line style: to set different kinds of lines
Save a version of your document using File | version, and clicking later the button save version
Save the document using File | save, or the save button in the toolbar. Never use File | save as otherwise the versions information will be lost

Split in two the cell “Atún”, to write Atún blanco and Atún rojo

Format the table
Align to the center the text in the cells (select all the cells and click on the button alineacion al centro in the main toolbar
Apply a font (type of letter) of your choice
Paint the cells in color. Paint the header in a darker color
The header text must be set in bold letters(negrita)
Save a version of your document using File | version, and clicking later the button save version
Save the document using File | save, or the save button in the tool bar. Never use File | save as otherwise the versions information will be lost
Upload the document to Moodle
