UNIT 7 SWAY:. ACTIVITY 1 VOYNICHT'S MANUSCRIPT

PRESENTATIONS WITH SWAY

Conventional presentation programs like MS Powerpoint and LO Impress work with slides. Sway uses a more flexible approach, using cards instead of slides. You can imagine a card like a little slide, about half the size of a regular slide. Slides are thought to be projected in a screen in sequence. Cards can be used in this way too, but they also can be overlapped forming a continuous string of cards in which the user can scroll up and down the contents like in a web page, which make them suitable for web browsers, and mobile devices like tables and smart phones

There is another major difference between cards and slides: In a conventional presentations program the user devotes a long time setting features as the font-type, size and color of the text, the background colors and the effects and transitions of the slides. Sway is equipped with a design engine, which gives automatically an eye-catching format to the document including transitions and special effects. The fact that the user can't personalize the format of the document might be seen as a disadvantage, however in most presentations the user needs to focus on the contents and doesn't mind much about the format as long as it is striking and attractive.

Microsoft calls a sway the documents carried out with Sway, in order to differentiate them from other traditional slides presentations.

Other interesting Sway features are:

TO CREATE A NEW SWAY

Next we are going to insert an image card. Click in the add button (the green circle under the card) and select image. But now we are going to upload the image from our computer. Download the image below (contextual menu, save image as) and drag the image from the browser over the area Agregar una imagen.

It should look like this. Never mind if Sway places it in a position different as the one seen in the image below. Remember you leave Sway in charge of the design:

And the result is :

Remember, if you do it wrong you will form a group of two images inside a another group and we don't want that (see the image below) to happen.

We want this: a single group of 4 images

And the result must look like this

Text:
