Explore a Right Triangle

Welcome to MooMooMath. Today we are talk about right triangles.

And... what is a RIGHT TRIANGLE?

A right triangle is very simple, a right angle has to be one of the three angles and a right angle always measures ninety degrees. Remember a triangle always adds to 180 degrees. So half of that is at one of the angles. So in this triangle we have this symbol (points to right triangle symbol) and that means it is a right angle or ninety degrees. So that means the other two angles add up to the other ninety degrees. So if this angle is forty then the other angle will be 50 and they are complementary because they add to 90 degrees. So let's look at this one (points to triangle on the right) you see the symbol here so this one is 90 and this angle is 45. Think for a second what the other angle will be? Well these two smaller acute angles add to ninety, therefore this one must be forty five. So this one is actually an isosceles triangle, and it is also a right triangle. So we can classify it on its angles and also by its sides. Since two of the sides are the same then it is an isosceles also. So what are the rules for a right triangle? It's really simple, one angle is right and right angles are ninety degrees. So as long as one angle is ninety degrees you know it is a right triangle. Hope this video was helpful.
