Qualities of sound

When it comes to sound waves, there are three characteristics that are important: loudness, pitch and quality. When it comes to loudness, loudness is for wave's amplitude so wave like this is not very loud when it comes to sound, sound waves. And a reminder: sound waves aren't actually transverse waves, they are long to the ways they look like this with a wave is spread apart called a rarefaction or close together called a compression but because this is difficult to draw we use the transverse wave to represent the sound. So, this is the amplitude, here is small so it's not very loud; this would be the same way but much louder, because it's got a greater amplitude. When it comes to pitch, pitches, frequency of a wave so with the low frequency or a low sound a little note would look like that but a wave that was a high note would be like this shorter wavelengths higher frequency. The last of our three things we look at, when we look at sound waves is quality. Quality is described as how complex the wave is for instance this wave here if that was a sound wave that will be the sound of a tuning fork, we call that pure. Pure tones are very simple sound our ears and our brain like more complex sounds so like take a group of waves of different tones and put them together. I can create something that looks something like this a lot more complex way, this is a more complex wave so its quality is more complex this is a very simple way of a pure tone, a tuning for guitar string. There are three call the three things you need to describe away.
