First session

Task 1: Watching video: “How to Be a Tour Guide Audio Excerpt: Brainstorming Your First Tour”

This video is a part of the book called: "How to be a tour guide" by the author and tour guide Nick Manning. In this video the author explains one way to prepare a walking tour.

Task 2: Fill-in-the-blanks (first 2 minutes of the video)

 The skills as a tour guide that you've learned so far with the skills in tour creation that you will learn now. So that we can produce a commercial quality tour complete with a fully trained tour guide. You let's start with finding an idea that will make a good tour. For your first tour we're going to create a half day walking tour. This is a great way to enter the industry because it's low risk relies on no one but yourself for your success and is incredibly popular with tourists. Create something without admission fees if possible. You'll practice this tour a number of times so this will help keep your costs low and perhaps even allow you to make the tour free with the aim of making money through tips. The biggest part of your need at the moment is that you need a tour to practice with. Here's a quick tip tourists love being shown two things: big ticket items (the stuff you see on the postcards in your local tourist shop) and local secrets like the waterfall that only locals know about or a morning tea stop that makes simply the best pumpkin pie. If you can include both on your tour do so. Part 1: brainstorming. Okay this is the fun part. Grab a pen and a sheet of paper and divide it into two columns. In the first, write down all the things that you love doing. In the second, write down all the places nearby that you think people would like to visit. Include both existing tourist attractions and also places that only locals or you know about. Do it now go on it will only take five minutes I'll wait.

 

Task 3: Prepare in pairs the activity suggested in the video about Valencia.

 

Task 4: Change the couple with other pairs of students, and discuss about the places and your favourite places of Valencia.

 

Second session:

 

Task 1: Presentation (carried out by the teacher) of the subject contents. The contents are:

o   Incentive trips

o   Famtrips

o   Bus tours

o   Walking tours

o   Transfers

o   Other typologies.

 

 

Task 2: Doubts and questions about the contents.
