2-hour module FOOTBALL RULES

SUBJECT: Physical Education

Learning Objectives

 

We are going to focus on some essential vocabulary for football initiation. It will be vocabulary about rules, resources and material needed for playing football. Moreover, the students are going to use the present continuous for explaining the activities that they are going to do.  

 

The Success Criteria

 

We spent that the students will be able to understand all the concepts that the teacher is going to put in each explanation. Moreover, students have to be able to explain some exercises in English and thus, they have to be fluent with this vocabulary.

 

Resources

 

For the vocabulary, teacher will use sheets with matching exercises that students will complete in the first sessions. Teacher also will include sheets with fil-in-the-blank exercises for doing in groups. In these cases, the pupils will have to search on internet if they don’t know something.

On the other hand, students will have to create in groups football drills for explaining in the pitch to the other groups. For this task, they must create with PowerPoint the task and to put in the side the explanation that they are going to do. They will send to the teacher mail before to the exposition day and in this way teacher could resend the work with the corrections.

Finally, when each group is exposing their exercise and other group is playing it, the rest of the groups will have a sheet for taking notes of feasible mistakes that the classmates are doing, as vocabulary or grammar.

 

Methodology

 

The idea in the unit is that teacher will use the autonomy of the students for learning. This mean that they will have to search all the concepts that they don’t know or, as they will be working in groups, they could share their knowledge with the groupmates. Thus, the teacher role will be looking and listening each group, and in case that they don’t be able to find some word or sentence, facilitate the response. 

 

Assessment

 

The evaluation will be possible with the sheets given in the sessions, with vocabulary and grammar exercises. Moreover, the quality of the explanation of the group when they show the activity and the kind of feedback that they provide to the other groups will be consider for the teacher with an evaluation sheet. Will be considering the clarity of the explanation and the quantity of vocabulary used, as well as the composition of the sentences with the correct verbal tense.

 

 

1st HOUR

Theorical class. Students are going to be divided in groups. Then, teacher will show a video with some expressions and vocabulary related with football. After that, the teacher will distribute a sheet with matching exercises that correspond at spanich expressions and their traduction.

Then, teacher will show another video related with football rules and will be given another sheet with a fil-in-the-blank exercise. This sheet contains the name of each line on the pitch in a picture and a text with some situations in football that requires of vocabulary rules.

2ND HOUR

 

This will be a practical class, where students in groups has to create a drill or task for being practised on the pitch after that. The content of the exercise may be wichever related with football. The teacher will give 30 minutos for the groups, due to one of the groups has to carry out the work done. The first 30 minutes will be on a class in front of the pitch and then, the group who shown the task will explain and put into practice in the pitch. They will have 20 minutes.

The last 10 minutes of the session will be for providing feedback students as well as teacher, due to this will be part of the final evaluation.
